Custom Decks, Designed & Built With Clarity
Deck builders serving Northeast Wisconsin, specializing in composite, wood, and hybrid deck systems engineered with defined scope, structural integrity, and long-term performance in mind.
Every project is fully planned before construction begins. Layout, framing, attachment, material selection, and finish details are defined early to protect timeline, budget, and build quality.
Serving homeowners across Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, and surrounding Northeast Wisconsin communities.
Every TECH FIVE deck begins with intentional design. Layout, elevation changes, traffic flow, stair placement, and structural spans are defined before materials are selected — not adjusted mid-build.
We evaluate deck size, shape, grade transitions, attachment points, and integration with your home to ensure the structure performs as well as it looks. Finish details such as picture framing, fascia treatment, stair geometry, and beam wrapping are planned early so the final result feels cohesive and deliberate. All horizontal framing protected with joist tape to extend deck lifespan.
Composite decking is selected for low maintenance, dimensional stability, and long-term durability in Wisconsin climates.
We specify proven composite systems from manufacturers such as TimberTech®, AZEK®, and Trex®, selected for structural performance, warranty backing, and material stability.
Installation includes manufacturer-approved fastening systems — including hidden fasteners where appropriate — and all horizontal framing members are protected with joist tape to reduce moisture intrusion and extend structural life.

Wood decks offer a traditional appearance and remain a practical option for certain projects and budgets.
TECH FIVE builds wood decks using proven structural framing practices, proper joist spacing, and code-compliant fastening methods designed for safety and longevity in Wisconsin conditions. We discuss maintenance expectations early — including sealing, staining, and long-term upkeep — so material choices align with how you plan to use and maintain your space.
TECH FIVE does not provide staining services, but maintenance planning is discussed so expectations align with long-term ownership.

Example of a hybrid system: wood decking paired with low-maintenance aluminum railing.
Hybrid deck systems combine materials to balance performance, appearance, and long-term maintenance.
A common hybrid approach pairs wood decking with low-maintenance aluminum or composite railing systems. This allows the deck surface to be refinished over time while minimizing upkeep on the components most exposed to weather and wear. Each combination is selected based on performance goals, budget, and how the space will be used.
Stairs & Railings
Deck stairs and railings are often the most structurally demanding part of a deck — and the most overlooked.
TECH FIVE designs stair systems with proper stringer spacing, structural blocking, picture-framed treads, and reinforced landings to prevent sagging, bounce, and premature failure. Composite stair systems require closer stringer spacing (typically 12″ or 9″ on center) to maintain rigidity and long-term performance — details we plan before materials are ordered.
Railing systems are selected for both safety and durability. We commonly install powder-coated aluminum systems with vertical pickets, cable options, and integrated drink rails — configured to meet code while complementing the overall design.

Composite stair framing designed for rigidity, built to manufacturer installation specifications, and engineered beyond minimum code standards.
Picture Framed Stairs
Picture-framed stair treads with reinforced framing for long-term stability.
Standard Aluminum Railing
Powder-coated aluminum railing system installed to manufacturer specifications.

Verticable Railing
Vertical picket railing designed for code compliance and clear sightlines.
Drink Rail Upgrade
Integrated drink rail system for added function and finish detail.

Deck Replacement & Rebuilds
Not every project starts from scratch. Some existing decks can be resurfaced — but many require structural updates to ensure long-term safety and performance.
TECH FIVE evaluates framing, footings, attachment details, and layout before recommending resurfacing or full replacement. When a rebuild is required, demolition, debris removal, and proper structural upgrades are included as part of the scope — not treated as afterthoughts.

Key Design & Material Decisions
Every deck project involves structural and finish decisions that shape long-term performance — not just appearance. Defining these choices early creates clarity, protects your budget, and prevents mid-project changes.
Understanding your options ahead of time leads to a smoother, more predictable build experience.

Materials and Structure Matter
A deck’s long-term performance depends on proper structural design, material compatibility, and moisture management — not just surface appearance.
From joist layout and beam sizing to flashing details and framing protection, these decisions are addressed early in planning to ensure durability, safety, and warranty compliance.
Proper framing layout and load planning
Joist tape, flashing, and water management
Code-compliant construction (often exceeding minimums)
Optional under-deck drainage and integrated lighting
Designed to handle freeze-thaw cycles, heavy snow loads, and seasonal moisture swings common in Wisconsin.
