About TECH FIVE

TECH FIVE is your go-to team for custom deck and porch needs in the greater Appleton/ Fox Valley, Green Bay and Oshkosh area. TECH FIVE is committed to your satisfaction during the design & sales process, lead-up, construction and use of your new custom space.

Tech Five focuses on using the best looking low maintenance decking materials available in today’s market. Our Owner, Nick, was previously an employee of The AZEK Company training the entire lumber channel on alternative decking, railing and fastening options. His clientele included some of the largest lumber/ building materials distributors in the Midwest, many of the lumber yards/ dealers, box stores such as Home Depot, Menards and Lowes, and also worked in the field directly with contractors to help develop their product knowledge and supporting any customer service requests on all fronts including for homeowners. With such a strong knowledge base on the decking market, Nick set out to develop TECH FIVE into Wisconsin’s premier deck design and build company.

Why our Core Values Matter

Customer Service – Communication, and trustworthiness are the keys to achieving happy customers. Our commitment to honest communication, timeliness and cleanliness is what sets us apart from the competition.

Design & Build Quality

Setting proper expectations through design and then performing at our best during the building process is how we show our skill. We are committed to using the best design tools in order to relay the best and most accurate information. Not only does this support our customer service commitment but it’s what gives us our personal satisfaction seeing quality structures built; which we know will make people happy and they’re going to last.

Strong Relationships

“Relationships are everything” is a quote our company lives by. A company and what it does can only be as strong as the some of all it’s parts. Our persistence in continually developing stronger skills throughout our entire team with a focus on helping achieve individual goals both in career and personal life is what makes our team and working environment something special.

Stability & Longevity

The sign of the best teams/companies is their ability to find success in the worst of times and stay humble in the best of times. By committing both internally and externally to remain consistent over the long run, TECH FIVE looks forward to the future. While continuing to look at new building materials and techniques our goal will always be to remain focused on using our expertise to offer the best products and interaction possible.

Commitment to Community

To us it’s important to give back. We look forward to supporting local charity events, teams and causes close to our hearts.

Nick Vanden Heuvel

Nick started down his path into the trades at an early age. Even before high school Nick spent his summers working on crews framing houses, roofing and siding. Throughout high school and in early parts of his college career he honed his precision workmanship in a machine shop assisting with CNC lathes and in the assembly department. When given his first opportunity to take lead in helping start a residential painting company he dove in head first creating some of the best teams of painters and crew leads in the country and was nominated for “District Manager of the Year”, while achieving top 10 results nationwide in customer service, employee retention and revenue. This is where Nick’s passion and inspiration for entrepreneurship, business development and employee/customer relationships truly developed.

Nick enjoys hanging out with family and friends, spending time on the water and playing hockey (Appleton United Alumni). If your into anything with motors i.e. motorcycles, cars, trucks, boats, snowmobiles or really any form of racing, you might just be best friends.

In coming up with a design that represents our company and means something to us there are a few hidden gems.

  • Tech can mean a lot things in todays world. To us, focusing on building products technology is an absolute must and it will lead to competitive advantages in the future.
  • Most obviously, the ‘V’, what you might expect is the representation of 5 as the roman numeral, however it also stands close to Nick’s heart as the first initial of his last name, Vanden Heuvel.
  • Why FIVE? Yes the ‘V’ might make sense now, but throughout his hockey career nick had the #5 on his jersey since elementary school. #15 for Appleton United and #5 playing in the GLHL for the Eagle River Falcons.
  • For this reason you will also find a focus on the number 5 throughout our company. Including but not limited to 5 parts of our mission and 5 steps to our process.
  • Lastly, there was a bit of inspiration from the racing world. Tech3 Yamaha just happens to be one of the top privateer teams in MotoGP (World Motorcycle Racing) and our colors might look familiar if you know who the 9 time MotoGP world champion is. If the colors are good enough for the G.O.A.T., they should work out for TECH FIVE!
